Apparel Projects

Building structure from something so unstructured

Apparel Design & Production

My apparel projects are helping me dust off the cobwebs of my design and production capabilities. Crafting clothes is something that I have held on to and I am rediscovering the joy and process of fabric selection and finished goods. Completing a garment and being proud of the results reafirms my commitment to crafting new ways to make this industry better and more sustainable.

My first garment project since college. It felt really good to get back into the process of producing something from scratch.

I knew I wanted to ease back into the process of designing and producing apparel, so I opted for a pattern and canvas fabric from my local JoAnn - Rest in Peace

This jacket pattern is A Know Me by Mimi G. from designer Norris Dánta Ford.

Garment No. 002

My second garment complete post college. Now this is a garment that I have worn out of the house and I am proud of the quality/workmanship.

I knew that if I wanted to make something that I truly would wear, I would need higher quality fabric. I ordered a heavier weight duck canvas to give the garment a bit more structure.

This overcoat pattern is the Ludlow from Merchant & Mills.

This is not a garment that I manufactured myself, but something that I designed. For a presentation that I had, I designed a pattern for a sports jersey to help support and "wow" the audience.

It was a lot of fun to utilize midjourney to design and iterate the pattern utilizing objects that were relevant to the Maybelline brand. A very different way of designing patterns from the legacy software I used back in college. A whole world of creativity at your fingertips.
